Matteson is a
village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The
population was 12,928 at the 2000 census. As of 2007
village population at 17,080.
As of the census[2] of 2000,
there were 12,928 people, 4,561 households, and 3,553
families residing in the village. The population density
was 1,811.2 people per square mile (699.1/km²).
There were 4,712 housing units at an average density
of 660.2/sq mi (254.8/km²). The racial makeup of
the village was 28.68% White, 65.99% African American,
0.17% Native American, 1.41% Asian, 3.06% from other
races, and 1.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or
Latino of any race were 3.75% of the population.
