Grayslake is
a village in Lake County, in the U.S. state of Illinois.
It is located in the Chicago metropolitan area, about
64 km (40 mi) north of Chicago's downtown, 22 km (14
mi) west of Lake Michigan, and 24 km (15 mi) south of
the Wisconsin border. As of a special census conducted
in 2003, the village population was 20,330. The Village
of Grayslake is also home to the College of Lake County
and the Lake County Fairgrounds.
Grayslake has a station on Metra's
North Central Service, which provides daily rail service
between Antioch, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois (at
Union Station). It also has another station on the Milwaukee
District/North Line which provides service between Fox
Lake, Illinois and Union Station.
The Village of Grayslake water
supply comes from the Central Lake County Joint Action
Water Agency (CLCJAWA) located in Lake Bluff, Illinois.
