Willowbrook is
a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States.
The population was 8,967 at the 2000 census.
Willowbrook grew from the Ridgemoor
subdivision, became incorporated in 1960. Since the
1980s, the city of Willowbrook, and most notably its
Independence Day festivities at Creekside Park.
As of the census[3] of 2000,
there were 8,967 people, 4,178 households, and 2,272
families residing in the village. The population density
was 3,447.8 people per square mile (1,331.6/km²).
There were 4,504 housing units at an average density
of 1,731.8/sq mi (668.8/km²). The racial makeup
of the village was 84.63% White, 2.42% African American,
0.04% Native American, 10.01% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander,
1.16% from other races, and 1.68% from two or more races.
Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.26% of the population.
There were 4,178 households out
of which 21.0% had children under the age of 18 living
with them, 45.0% were married couples living together,
7.4% had a female householder with no husband present,
and 45.6% were non-families. 40.3% of all households
were made up of individuals and 12.5% had someone living
alone who was 65 years of age or older.
